Message: THES 200 World University Ranking 2006 -
University of Malaya’s slides to 192 struggling to
keep within list
Time & Date: October 5, 2006 @ 18: 11.55

I have been informed by the press that the nation’s
premier university, University of Malaya, has
skidded further in The Times Higher Education
Supplement 2006, struggling to keep within the
list, placed No. 192 from 169 in 2005 and 89th in
2004.

University of Malaya had been overtaken by
University Kebangsaan Malaysia, which is ranked
No. 187, restoring two Malaysian universities to
the THES 200 Top Universities Ranking in 2004,
where University Sains Malaysia was placed No.
111. In 2005, however, USM plunged by more than
89 places from No. 111 to fall outside the 200 Top
Universities bracket altogether.

AAAAARRRRGGGHHHHH........

but anyway, congrats to UKM.... (who's studying at UKM????)

kai yit.. dun be so emphasized on the ranking.. it's just a name.. really a name.. if u have been here, perhaps u will just say.. ceh, it's just another U.. nothing special..perhaps just the facilities are better.. buses are more punctual.. n it's cleaner.. nothing much.. there's a place to shine for everyone.. no matter how terrible the place is.. so dun be so frustrated wit the ranking.. ^^

yeah and now i felt like wanna curse NTU .. hahaha

Kaito Liew said...

waijin, nolah, i just wanna express my disappointment, this kind of result is foreseeable, everyone in UM isn't surprise wit it....

ya, ranking probably couldn't reveal the true quality of a U, but at least this THES ranking undoubtedly has certain reliability, it's definitely based on some factual data or evidence, the declining of UM is inevitable as long as the UUCA and pro-establishment regime reign the campus....

no matter how, as a UM boy, i still concern bout her, n giving my limited support to her with my idealism.....

boon.. u very bad ar.. wanna curse ur U.. hahahahah...
kaiyit.. i dunno wat't the uuca n pro-establishment... but i noe a lot of so called 'capable' malays r there.. how can the U improve if they keep on let them enter the U without their real qualification.. how many percent of chinese ther? haih... how many is really good there.. haih.. sad...

Kaito Liew said...

As a malaysian, u have the right to know n pay ur concern, UUCA or AUKU is abbreviation of University and Univerity College Act that have been enforcing from 1971 until now, thanks to this act, every malaysian's U standard has been dropping drastically since 70s....

this act strictly retrict the freedom of thinking, association n grouping of the student, n even destroyed the independence of academic in malaysian U, Gomez case was one of the million examples...

wat i have to do is just sigh, sigh n sigh.... quoting gomez's word:"I am deeply disappointed with the unprofessional, non-consultative, high-handed and autocratic behaviour of the university authorities,"

regarding the so called 'fair distribution of resources' or quota system, i have nothing to say bout it lah, since this is unchangeable fact... but luckily, chinese in UM still certain amount to self-sustain and have not be sidelined like UPM...

lastly, may god bless UM~~~
