F + U + N - recap

Hi, wanna post up the photos that I promised you all. In NTU we have MSA (Malaysian Student Association) where seniors from Malaysia will gather and take care of our welfare. This 5-day-camp really helped a lot. I know a lot of friends that I can just simply talk with or wave hands at whenever you see them. It makes your loneliness gone away while you are alone from home.

Day 1 - 24/07/06
For the first day from morning until late evening I had been engaged in admin stuff. Thanks to seniors who brought us around NTU campus and of course to Singapore city for the X-ray medical checkup at Orchard Road. During the night it was an ice-breaking time where I met my group member. Our group's name is Gracioul - something about taking account into your responsibility and consequences or whatever ... let's roll with pictures !!!

Then we went for PHOTO HUNT around the campus ... we just walked almost every corner of the campus ... my god ~~~ Late at night ... walao ... you cannot believe this ... just look at the pictures ..

Crazy to a great extent

Frankly speaking, last week was my 7th week in UM but it also was the most crazy week that I ever experienced in my varsity life.

  1. Last week, I skipped all my lectures and tutorial classes, but don’t worry, I already asked my trustful friend to sign my attendances.
  2. Last week, I had 3 papers to test, but honestly I didn’t study in serious manner, I just read through once only~~~~!!!!

Everything thanks to DEBATE!!!

On account of my great enthusiasm in Chinese debate, without any question, I took part in campus Chinese debate competition with some debatolic friends last fortnight. After two weeks struggled so hard, I eventually made ourselves in the last four, but unfortunately defeated by a stronger team after a deadly battle in the semi-final round. This is my first achievement in UM.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My team (the 4 guys with whites) and the blacks are our alliance, they will take revenge for us in the final.

Crazy thing: the semi-final round ended in Friday night but the next morning has a test even though was Saturday. The test was multiple choices but with 100 QUESTIONS. Oh my god. Then, that time I haven’t start my study even a page. So I had no choice and that time I was so exhausted after a week battle in debate field. POK!!! I just slept immediately.

What was happened in the next morning?!?!

I brought my AK47, then I shot and shot. Luckily some questions quite common sense to me, hopefully it won’t fail.

Secondly, I played footsal for my first time.

It definitely wasn’t a normal footsal match, it is because one of the players came from the ancestor land of modern football, he is very keen in his native football skill, that is English attacking-football style which have made a glorious reputation in the international football arena, he is my friend, he also called David…. Normally we call him Dave ~~~~

It was absolutely a cruel match, especially for those freshmen like me. In order to protect the face of a great Liverpool, I played very hard to fulfill a fan's duty.

Everyone chasing the ball, everyone trying to find the ball…… (why I used ‘find’???)

After an hour battle, my team finally defeated by Dave’s team, 5 to 8, and undeniably he was the best player of the game because 5 out of 8 goals of his team was contributed by his golden right leg 黄金右脚.

And now, I am suffering a severe muscle cramp on my both legs. Aaarrrrggghhhh…….

Group photo after the match

This month, august 2006 is really ‘international’ month, it is because of my caucasian friends, they are Dave and Todd. They made me feel that being ‘international’. Besides them, I also get know a lot of friends during the English class and alpha session. It’s really like a family…. Farewell to them~~~~

Lastly, make some advertisements:

Law Convention

I was invited to UM for a Law Convention by these people, KPUM whereby this convention is all about big law firms in Malaysia helping law students to have a better understanding of the proffesion...

So there I was with my new found friend, Aravind... Strolling along the very beautiful UM, admiring the well equiped facilities, envying all those who entered this uni...

We enetered the law faculty and my oh my, about 20 firms were there trying their best to pull you into their booth and make you register with the firms while waiting for us to inquire about their firms...

One couldn't help but wonder what on earth is happening...
Why are multi million firms making employment of law students so easy?
Only then did I realise it was a field of vultures preying on us naive law students to go into their firm to become cheap labour enslaved for a month or two to slog through the harsh realities of the legal profession...
Such a scam is masked behind the name, attachment where they lure you with their very inattractive pay of 1/2 a thousand like I did in my six months job experience...

But I have to admit, this is a simbiotic situation where we as law students get to have hands on experience and it is the ONLY way to learn the facts of life in the law business...

One firm did catch my eye, Shern DeLamore, one of the biggest firm in Malaysia...
It has 100 lawyers, a systematic follow up programme for the attachement students, rooms for lawyers (not cubicals like other firms) and a private bar with a pro bar tender...
I am surely attaching with this firm for the booze...

Then there is Lee Hishamuddin Allen & Gladhill, a firm with 40 over lawyers, posh settings and guess what, Elaine Dally is the current chambering students and I met her today... Chat for a while, she is nice, had her CLP 5 years ago, want to stop modeling and put her pageant days behind and move on with life... And she is so tall...

So thats about it, it has been fun getting goodie bags and all...
I have some serious thinking to do so will update you on my humble journey in attaining the illusive yet merely possible law degree program...

My 1st time contribution to the community..

hi hi.. i'm just back from community service.. y i said 1st time le? coz in malaysia nvr done such kind of stuff before ma.. i join my hostel voluntary service.. visit the elderly ppl.. bring them food.. help them to clean up their houses... and talked to them.. frankly speaking, their house is really dirty and smelly.. (full of pee smell).. coz u have to understand they cant walk properly.. sum of them even cant see... n always heard them getting admitted to hospital.. so cham... this is really meaningful la.. coz nvr done be4 la... and u'll feel very satisfied.. coz the elderly ppl r really happy when we visit them..
moreover, the welfare for the elderly here is really good la.. compared to malaysia.. the food we bring for them is sponsored by one of the canteen in our U. then these old ppl they have no family.. or their family abandon them... so the welfare department of the government also got subsidize them lo.. like the electrical bills etc..
this is one of the good part of singapore.. hahahaha..
ok la.. tat's all from me... for now.. :)
take care guys... miss u guys a lot..

Title-less

Left one is my summer bed and the other one is my winter bed. (yeah~~~ my roommate left already, but quite miss him a lot, since I missed a chance to know more about Malay people)

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingPhotobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My desk, very messy~~~~ and I am BEING watched!!!! Every room, every corner and some areas in UM compound are established with this CCTV surveillance system, but I think some of them are FAKE!!! Why am I saying so?? Because I saw 8 cctv in my tutorial classroom and this classroom twice smaller than our U6S2 classroom!!! It’s really incredible!!!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My ‘ancient’ faculty….. both outside and inside are OLD!!!!

Same as last week, this week also very busy, every night has activities inside or outside the campus, made me really exhausted……

Ya, at first, I have a great experience that have to share with you guys, that is I attended a public lecture of a great world philosopher who came from Oxford University last Thursday. He is Frederick Antony Ravi Kumar Zacharias a.k.a. Ravi Zacharias, an Indian-American. I think some of you might know this man.

His speech was really impressive, I have to be honest to say that I only could understand 30% of his words, thanks to my poor English. But anyhow, I was still able to catch his core idea and gained a lot eventually. His topic was “The three great challenges to religion and society.” Well, what are challenges??? Ravi said: Secularization, Pluralization and Privatization. That’s all what I got from his 90 minutes speech. (the photo is not with me, so I will show you later)

Emm… the most memorable and touching event in this week is….. a farewell party of my first international friends~~~They will flight to their respective countries in these following days. (the US guy already on board right now)

The farewell party was held outside campus:

Guys, guess what are they doing??!!?!

They were playing the MALAYSIA version’s FEAR FACTOR!!!!

That is eating a durian flesh~~~ (%#%#!$@#^)

Huh!!!!!! What’s the fear factor, it’s very easy!!!!!

But for mat salih, they rather jump from 88 storeys of KLCC than eat a small piece of durian fresh. You can observe it from their face. It all thanks to durian’s disgusting stinky smell. (in their points of nose)

The Chinese saying: there never have a party that never end. 天下无不散之宴席Yeah, it’s right. It’s really heavy to say farewell to friend, but I believed that we will meet one day somewhere in the world.

Last but not least: What is this??!?!??!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is the most irrelevant subject for me. Tamadun islam and tamadun melayu (Islamic civilization and Malay civilization) this is a new syllabus of TITAS for current first year, it totally excluded all the tamadun asia. (Asian cilivization that including Chinese, Indian and Japanese civilization)

Why were they doing so??? Are they really think that 500 year-old Malay civilization is far more superior than 5000 year-old Chinese, Indian and Japanese civilization?!?!?! And what are the differences between the Islamic civilization and Malay civilization besides skin colour and language?!?!?! Is Malay civilization a civilization of Asian or Islamic?!?!? Is it more appropriate to use Malaysian civilization instead of Malay civilization?!?!?! Is it unfair to non-Malay Malaysian?!?!?

Guys, feel free to discuss this topic!!!! Never afraid of that AUKU!!!! Boon and Waijin, are you guys required to study Tamadun Singapura some kind of thing!?!?!?

Finally, I have nothing to say to that idiot prime minister of japan, Junichiro Koizumi, who prayed to those notorious war criminals of WWII at Yasukuni shrine during the 815 VJ day, the most sensitive day for Chinese and Korean. This time japan really missed the final chance for reconstructing the relationship with china and korea. Sigh, the road for japan is getting uneven.

Ok. Stop politic. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DEAR ZIZI!! Sorry this time bro couldn’t celebrate with you…. Emm…. Wait until September holidaylah~~~~~

La La La~~~~!!!

Hi there ... ... oops ... gotta update to you what's happening around me ...

Kinda funny ... yesterday I attended two interview/audition ... first one is AIESEC which is a student body ... ... OMG ... they asked me to show them how to sell a chocolate with meat (duno why .. juz meat) to a vegetarian ... ... i was =.=" sweating ...

haha ...it turned out to be a very confident and quite smooth interview .. since i failed my QET i had been a lot more confident ... haha ... ... becoz last day i talked to a consultant and she asked me how could i fail the exam ... she said my English is ok for her ... haha ... ... got some condolences ... ... feeling a bit better ...

then on 9pm yesterday .. i went for choir audition ... haha .. juz for fun ... i din know what they would test .. they just asked us to prepare a song and tats all ... ... haha ... then when i got into the audition room ... there was a keyboard and the guy asked me to sing the keys high and low ... LA .. LAH ... LA ... ~~~~~~

... haha .. it was really funny ... ... sometimes i felt like my high pitch and low pitch were just the same ... then i sang my chosen song "Standing In The Eyes Of The World" haha ... lousy song ... coz i got no more songs/ideas of what to sing ... just simply sing this out of memory ... you know lah ... Form 6 Unity Club mah ...

So guess what ? it's a very weird feeling after the audition .. i felt like I was William Hung walking out of the room being ignorant and innocent thinking that "I've just given my best and I have no request at all..." hahaha ... i passed the first round and the second round will be on tomorrow ... ... this time it will be a constructor to test ... haha ... OMG ... ... i'll just go for it ... ... for fun ...

busy life ... especially need to pick up my Physics again ... what the ... ... so long i don't care about the F=ma and the newton's law ... and now ... haih ... have a nice day !! TTFN ...

U6SC2 is deeply missed [Edmund reporting..finally..from Kemayan ATC]

Hello People...
Edmund here...
Writting my very first post...
Well...
Its been like almost a month now since I started college and I must say...
Life here is pretty tiring and the subjects are foreign to me... literally!!!
College is in the middle of the city which is one of the best part of studying here cos public transportation is the only 5 minutes walk...
The only friends I made for the moment had been Michele Heng of U6SC3, a girl from Gombak and a guy from Ipoh...
Everyone else are of the different cliques and groups...
Still trying to know them cos all oso very kiasu...
I really missed the U6SC2 ambience where everyone is everyones friend...
Since classes are 3 times a week and one of them are on Saturday, it makes me kinda restless and everyone the lack of time to bond and stuff...
Subjects here are all about reading , reading and more reading about all these guai low and their life acheivements in making a difference as they make my life miserable ...
BORING!!!!
Books pulak need to be shipped from London and it takes almost forever so everyone basically have no books at all now...
When I went to the bookstore to buy a law book , it costs like RM 160 or more... Super expensive...
I really miss form 6...
Books are cheaper, classes simpler....
And of course the rest of you who made my life richer in every way...
Ok...Need to go back to my homework (now oso got homework and not assignments)
Miss you guys...

Week No. 3

Yup, it's me in Singapore and to be exact ... 2 more days and I'll be officially away from home for 3 weeks. It's a very long way from home. I felt very weak mentally since I just got some rumour that I'm gonna fail my QET (English Test) ... what the ... To be honest, English is one of my confidence and now they are tearing it apart ... ...

Apart from that, I failed to register for any extra subjects ... ... damn it *** ... Why ? Thanks to the system. I don't want to describe more on that and I don't have energy for that. Just summarize ... it's 90% their fault rather than mine. If not mistaken, I'll be placed into English Proficiency class ... haha ... ... so ironic ... ... I was so called the "School Team's English debater" and "Best English Subject Scorer" 3 years ago ... going to be crazy ...

You know what ? It is definitely a very big failure and impact for me. I do hope I can pass it on. Damn it ... My father came yesterday morning and went back this afternoon. Tell you all more later. No mood for more words. TTFN

Say Hi to everyone from the sporty USc2 classmate!

Hi everyone!!! So sorry now only sign in to this blog. How do u do? Im very miss you all due to long time did not saw you all already. Hope you all still remember me. You guys have to teach me how to use this blog since im a new user here. Erm..actually i also do not know what im going to write here..so im just simply write something about what was happening to my university on today...

Is very funny...the story is begin from the early morning we had to woke up at 6.30am and be ready in the dataran of library of KUSTEM at 7.00am something..due to the ceremony of launches Convocation Ke-4 and joined together with the opening ceremony of national day 2006.. But when we reached there, it was very boring from the begginning...and i felt very sleepy on that time...sleep and sleep ...didn't border about what they are doing, but suddenly something had woke up me..that was when came to the middle speeches of the "Big head" people ( do not know who was he) had mentioned about the changes of my university name from Kolej....something to University....something. On that time,i felt very happy because i thought it will come true but unfortunely it didnt confirm yet..My mood was changed to become sad. Why i said so because of we have already told that the name will b changes soon from the beggining when we entered this so call university but till now it does not becomes true..Anyway just use the eyes and see when will become true! There also some of the profesor here told us that it might change by next year..some others said this year..do not know which one is true! So just waiting only..hope that will change before i graduate.

Another things which have impressed me a lots was when came to the last of the ceremony..suddenly there appears a few groups of seniors shown their expression to anti-war!!! At first , i very shock to their so call like "mogok" because i thaught the university are never approve for doing some kinds of activities which have involve political manners and i also very blur blur about what they are trying to do.. Finally i knew what was going to happen there, it was a "Perhimpunan Aman" !! But seems like nobody borders about them...and just a few of students followed them shouting "WE WANT PEACE" ..then just walked around the dataran there and shout and shout...then end up for the activities for today. After that everyone were went back since no more activities.

Here, what i so impressed me is about the activities of "Perhimpunan Aman" for today..So i would like to share something with you guys about the terrorism of foreign country which was so "hangat" during this month...that is ~~~

The tyranny of military rule of Zions to the Islamic human being oppressed by the cruel tyranny is getting more and more even becomes worse. This encroachment against the world of Palestine prophets and Lubnan which had been ascertain that how discourteous Zionis clan unjustly use of their autority over the weaks. Therefore, as a heart-strings civilian in this world have to awake and stand out to say somethings about it. In order to awaken society to the dangers of the tyrant's infamous cruelties, I strongly to call all the local university students in Malaysia unanimous for opposing the tyrannical acts of Israel against the citizen in Lubnan and Palestine. Here, let's us hands-in-hands to express our hope to protest strongly against the brutal Zionis regime. At last, we wanted to create a peaceful world not a warfare !!!

" WAR IS CRUEL , WE WANT PEACE !! "

* Hope that what i have wrote here did not bring any effects to anyone...
* Please do not forward to those who are not so close to you because it involved sensitive political matters.
Hope you all do not mind about my poorly language and vocabulary problems.

Thank you.
