hey!! its me chris! hee. this is like my what, 1st post ever here in this blog. haha.

college is busy as ever i shouldnt even start complaining about how much assignments i have. there's like deadline everyday. literally! EVERYDAY 6 days a week! but somehow or rather, im enjoying myself =) Hey i've got something to share with y'all.

i have this subject called History of Art. the name might cause you to think that its a boring sub. thats what i thought too at first. but, it turn out to be the most interesting sub overall. i did this project with a group of friends. we were supposed to make costume using the theme of an art movement given to us. we did FUTURISM. (a style of painting where the charateristics of speed, dynamic, technology, etc is shown) *grins*. we had to come up with not just a costume design but, a concept/story behind it. and here's what we got. enjoy reading! =)

"This is the future in the eyes of Triela. "

The year is 3009. The world has separated in two. Not literally of course, the humans would take things into their control to ensure that something as catastrophic as that wouldn’t happen. This split occurred in beliefs and moral values. The people were no longer divided by race or country. In fact, with such technology in transportation and communication, the world was almost united. Static, with everyone everywhere, anywhere, at the same time.

Interesting? It gets better.

The story goes like this.

Such a developed nation couldn’t stand alone. They had a strong government and a cabinet in power. These men and women were of status, well educated elites who worked hard to bring humanity to a greater level. But this would only bring on their downfall.

With the party in power trying their best to bring development to the highest possible level, they started to neglect everything that humanity was birthed from. Nature, peace, spirituality and emotion was soon forgotten. People moved closer to the city to obtain the best of technology, crowding themselves and working to achieve materialistic needs.

But not everyone was drawn into this haze of emptiness. There was a group of people bold enough to break away from this standardization of materialism. They rose up, started a revolution and was soon joined by many others. The government soon had to acknowledge and take them seriously when their number grew much too large to control. Finally a treaty was made. The rebels would move out of the city and stay there to embrace what they wanted, to live with nature once more. The city folk were pleased and continued their search for greater heights.

The rebels were soon known as the Crux. Their name represents something crucial, necessary. To them returning to the base of human nature was something vital and they chose it for themselves, sacrificing all forms of materialistic needs. They lived away from the city and soon found themselves returning to prehistoric times - almost.

On the other hand, the city folks called themselves the Advocates. They considered themselves holy and greater than anything else simply because they believed that they were achieving success in life. Success to them meant manners, social meetings, high standards of living, lavish materialism and pride. Along with these came so many negative things. As they strived for higher technology, they found themselves living in a shallow world where it was devoid of emotion, full of smoke, cluttered and dense. It was almost ironic the way they packed themselves together, so sure that their city life was bringing them meaning. As they increased the population in their fully metal metropolis, the less they were alive.

They found themselves stuck in a rut of speed and dynamism. Busy all day long, chasing recognition in their society, surrounded by vehicles and rush, they started to fall sick. Their city had no greenery for they almost found it an insult to accept anything associated with what the Crux believed to be important. They tried to cure their self induced illness with more science and only found themselves getting worse. They tried cultivating nutrients to feed their frail bodies but their bodies has slowly evolved and was rejecting this goodness. They had started to turn pale, their blood was so longer bright red, but a darker shade, almost gray. The women, full of pride, just like the men, chose to embrace their paleness as a fashion, thus bringing about a movement of darker and duller shades. They wore silvers and black to reflect the mechanic lifestyle they were in. What they had no guts to fight, even though deep in their conscience they knew it was wrong, they embraced.

It was this society Triela lived in. A female Advocate and a daughter of a member of senate, she hated this lifestyle. Unlike many older people of her distinguished class, she saw what they couldn’t. She saw that they would sooner or later destroy themselves.

She saw that they needed to change. She even saw the truth in the Crux’s beliefs. She appreciated what they stood for and sympathized with their castaway. She was one light in a sea of lifeless, mindless, prideful people and she wanted out.

Moreover, she wanted to bring a change for the future generations. She wanted her generation to have something better, living in peace with nature but also reaping the benefits of science.

Being someone of high standards and having an extremely good education, she hatched a master plan. Only 20 but brilliant, she chose to make a stand, make a difference. She realized that she stood alone at that current moment but she believed with all her heart that when she finally voiced out her feelings, others like her would have the courage to rise up as well. She wanted to be the catalyst in a new movement and to go down in history as someone who did their nation good.

But being so young was not an advantage. To make matters worse, she was a woman. Nothing had changed, women were still the weaker sex. She understood the battles she would have to go through to make people take her seriously. She was driven even more by the fact that her own mother had died to a cause very similar to what she wanted to do now. Her mother had passed on this vision and Triela, being a strong and willful individual wanted even more to battle it out.

**(this is where our model walks in, with the music "roxannes veil" by vanessa mae. original soundtrack of Alexander. super nice piece!)

This brings us to now. In year 3009, Triela is about to attend a grand ball. But this isn’t going to be a meet and greet session for her. She does not intend to shake hands, be on her best behaviour, and earn good praise. She planned to get in the middle of the crowd and speak her views and spark her vision. Being smart, she predicted that it would be a safe place. The elite would be around her, surely she wouldn’t be arrested and they would have at least the courtesy to let the daughter to an elite Advocate speak.

Around her waited the few of her trusted friends and partners in vision to help her in any case of an unexpected turn of events. They were workers, fellow children of the older and more prideful generation, and even servant maids.

So tonight she wears a beautiful and classy gown, full of the style which represents the future as the Advocates had made it. Clad in silver and black with a dynamically designed skirt which enables her to move swiftly, she conforms to their standards of dressing and style, just so she will be taken seriously.

But the rest of the elements of her gown has a deeper meaning than just sheer style. The high wired collar represents her emotions and visions, ready to volcano out of her being. The neck brace makes her stand tall and reminds her to not turn back in what she is fighting for. The three geometrical shapes roses standing high above her gives a slight clue to what she is fighting for. It is after all part of nature, an element of the Crux and she has cleverly planted in so conspicuously in her very much Advocate styled outfit.

Tonight she fights for freedom, for unity, and all that the future should be.

hehh. the story reminds me of starwars, sounds like somwthing george lucas would do right? *bangga* bwahahahha! okay. ima go do some posts reading now. hee.

wai jin! =)

this is not so much of a typical story with like pendahuluan and kesimpulan. (oo bm) its more of a character design where we focused on her background and her view of the world she's living in and what she plan to do about it. woman power! =
