CNY Celebration in USM

We had a Chinese New Year Celebration in USM on the 2nd of February. It sure was a lot of fun! All the first and second year students are involved; 2nd-years directing and 1st years performing. Me, I was in the hairstyle team. The hairstyles of all the performers, emcees, actors, singers etc are in our field of expertise.

Hahahha joking joking. We weren’t any expert, heck we only learnt how to design and set people’s hair for this event from the seniors.

Pictures tell a thousand words right? Here we go then!

Before

Our practices, we did it on each other, haha

Emcee's hair, had to change a few times before the seniors were finally satisfied

The ghost dancers, they danced in the story-dance "Qian Nian Nu Hun", story of a beautiful girl, Xiao Qian, who was forced into slavery by the evil Lau Lau, a tree demon. Her job was to lure young men to Lau Lau for him to feed on and gain vitality. These ghosts are Lau Lau's minions. Scary huh?

On that night

Our hairstyle team with Chai Sen Yeh. Look at his makeup, haha

***Boon Ming: I wonder is this what Sze Jun was talking about, she said it couldn't be uploaded so now I help you lo.. but it seemed not complete so later you again okie??***

Battle in NUS

Singapore, what feeling and memory did this country give you?

For me, Singapore is a beautiful developed first-world city state country......
In my memory, Singapore is the foreign country that i visited in my life (1994, I was standard 2)

But, yesterday I changed my memory and history, that was my second time visit to this country, not for tour, but for pride and glory.....

Yesterday, been to NUS Prince George Park, wow, damned beautiful and luxurious, and also saw lots of mat salleh and chinaman. This is what a world ranked 19 deserved......

Yesterday, I took park in Malaysia-Singapore Chinese Debate Champion Competition, actually is a friendly matches, there were 3 universities involved in this "international" arena, i.e. my beloved UM, NUS, and NTU (Boon, ur U)

Yesterday, this was my first time represent my UM and Malaysia as well in my life.....

Yesterday, although I lost to stronger All-China NTU debate team, I won claps......

Friends, wish you guys happy lunar new year and valentine day......
And dun forget our class blog!!! WHERE IS OUR U6S2 SPIRIT!!!!!!!!

2007 Dreams - SC

So far do you know what is all that FC n SC about ? Never mind, I'll tell you in my last post of this 2007 Dreams series ... Now my report on what's happening in December.

I remembered I was so excited to be back to KL. The city I missed the most after spending 20 years of my life over here.. haha.. Well, Singapore is a nice country but it is always better when you are with your family right?

Gatherings, Tea Session, Supper time ... all those times i spent with old friends were just nice. It's good to be back to KL. Then me n my family went back to our kampung in Penang during my first weekend holidays. I took a lot of pictures but these few pretty sum it all up.

My Brother running in my old kampung house...

Don't say you don't where is this...

Then for the rest of the holidays i was trying to waste my time with more meaningful things to do but i think I failed to do so loh ... haha ... I watched the whole Prison Break Season 1 TV Series in just 3 days... then I went for a national youth camp at Port Dickson from 21st Dec to 24th Dec. It was suffering yet fun ... haha ... (sounds like I loved being tortured.. =.=") Really.. It was very very fun!!! The games they arranged were very creative and nice!! Post some photos first ... more photos I will update once I got the photos CD from the organiser. See.. I asked you all to join me but no one want... haha... i had all the fun by myself ... hehehe... got some disgusting games we played like those in Fear Factor ... e.g: removing a dry bread from a bowl of maggots ... by using only your mouth or lips... ;-) ... and ... omg... muntah...

Group 9 - the 'cream puff'

see how huge the camp is!!!

Hahaa ... then you know what? the day I finished the camp, it was the day my family had their vacation in Port Dickson with my father's company... haha ... so I just needed to wait and my family came and fetch my to their resort... hehehe ... imagine HELL and HEAVEN ... hehe ... i knew it was suffering in the camp hence this vacation gave me some time to relax ... haha .. very nice resort (i heard it was a 5 stars hotel) ... the company sponsored so never mind lo ... haha

dreams at night

So those were what happened until 25th Dec. More upcoming in TC of <2007 Dreams> series... the last chapter of this series!!! Stay tuned!!!

so you ask me whether did i enjoy my holiday?? hmm... hell yes... for more these updates please visit http://boonbox.multiply.com/ ...

Year 2007 = 2007 Dreams - FC

I can't list them out. But I knew I got more than enough to show that out. After the happy December, need to readjust back my life. Being left by my family just half hour ago, now I am back to my hostel sitting and wondering. Lots of things to think about.

Give you a brief report of what had happened so far since Nov
2006.

I finished my exam on 28th Nov 2006. The last paper was Materials Science and it was ok. Then that nite was crazy play until very late... At last I fell asleep coz couldn't tahan plus my friend Chee Leong was going to visit me the next day. So... ZZzZZzzz

Joanne (left) and Chee Leong together with their photographer (me) at Newton's place on 29th Nov. Kena tiok gau gau ... (means being charged more expensive lo...) and we didn't realise that we had ordered ALL spicy food before the food was served in front of us. OMG... Imagine that from their faces. Haha ... cannot tahan... at last we didn't manage to finish everything... sweat ... but it did give a lot of spice into our journey.

29th Nov : NTU -> Lavender (pick Chee Leong up) -> NTU -> R
affles Place MRT -> walk to City Hall MRT through Singapore River, Merlion and Esplanade -> Orchard MRT (met Joanne and walk) -> Newton's Place -> NTU

Imagine those paths all done by pure walking and standing in MRT ... ...

30th Nov : NTU -> Expo (some exhibitions) -> Vivocity {at this point we realised that we couldn't walk anymore} -> Jurong Point -> NTU {some how we managed to get back to our room and had supper.. hahaha}

1st Dec : NTU -> Jurong East {met Chee Leong's friends in AUS} -> Science Centre {we never make into it since we thought we were not kids anymore} -> McD {somehow we think that McD were for everyone and not just for kids} -> NTU -> Lavender -> MALAYSIA (very very rush until i forgot to do many things before going back, you'll know when i wrote about it in later post... lol)

Explorace anyone?

I just had my dental exam on Wednesday. It consists of MCQ, SAQ (short-answer questions), and OSPE (objective structured practical examination).

The MCQ and SAQ was okay (but I fell sick the day right before the exam, an extremely inappropriate time to be sick, really. Had a raging headache, blocked nose, burning sore throat and was unable to sleep. Ouch. Haha)

What I really want to talk about is the OSPE. We are given diagrams, teeth, pictures of diseases etc, then must label, and answer questions. It was like being in some sort of wacky game show quiz, albeit plus an extra load of fear of the unknown…. Hey, this is an exam, man, not just a game!

Actually in this exam, there are 14 stations of questions. The candidate must go through all of them, given only 3 minutes on each question. There is a bell that rings every 3 minutes, and you MUST leave your place when it rings, or you’ll be blocking someone else, as well as get scolded, or worse, kicked out of the lab.

Imagine our old lab in Cochrane. The big tables in our lab are just like that, just newer and with many weird machines and contraptions like those you find in a dental clinic….

So we must move from table to table every 3 minutes, in one circle around the lab lor…
(Oh add one thing, we must wear our white coat in this exam, like real doctors! First time, you know! Haha wish I had time to take a picture…)

3 minutes is quite long, right? WRONG!! Imagine if you’re given two extremely ugly teeth ( I mean they are discoloured, slightly broken and has barely recognizable features…) And you need to identify both of them, write down their numbering and name, then give SIX differences between them! In 3 minutes! Most of us barely had the time to make out what the teeth were, then write only a few words, and the bell has tolled for us….

Some questions, like the one I mentioned above, we had way too little time, but others, there was too much time, so those who had finished just sat around watching the others sweat and panic…. Hehee

To be honest, if it had not been an exam, it would have been really fun and funny, not to mention exciting…. Something like Explorace, only you race around the lab instead of the city… Hahahha

Hmm... what if you are a little bit kiasu plus afraid of exam? Well... that makes you on the march of hungry ghost to the ghost gate during this Ghost Month (exam month) !! Each time when I wanted to find a place in library ... walao ... cannot find a place ... so weird ... why so many people ... why all people must study in library de ?? then got some table only got bags ... ... chiu .. reserved places ... yea.. tell you ... got some people just come to library n put their bags then go out eat la ... take shower la ... ... do whatever la ... then syok syok only come back study .. but still wanna reserved/hog a seat .. sorry .. A SEAT = A LONG TABLE ... ... coz the guy spreaded his/her notes all over the table ... wtf ...
So after reading Wai Jin post ... yea ... dunno whether only this happens to Singapore University or just every university in the world ... how about your university ? Did this happen ?? Watch below for the Hungry Ghost Festival in Nanyang Technological University ...

Tell you ... that library is the biggest library in my campus. However, if compare to the whole population of students in university, it is no way to fit all of us ... haha ... i rarely went there study lo .. mostly in my room or else in the other libraries ... more peaceful ... hmm ...
Then for my Physics paper ... ... Summary : haih
