ok.. i had the most interesting english class ever since the 1st day.. today we had a class discussion based on a story.. wait! read it.. coz i wanna see what're u guys' opinions?
Meizhen was in love with ah xiong. They lived on opposite shores of a river. This river separating them was infested with man-eating crocodiles, and the only way to cross it was by a narrow bridge or by boat.
One day meizhen wanted vy badly to see ah xiong to discuss some matters relating to their planned wedding. Unfortunately, the recent flood had washed away the bridge,so meizhen started looking for a boatman to take her across the river. King was the only one who dared to cross the river which was still flowing swiftly as a result of the recent downpour. He had always wanted meizhen for his wife and now he would not let the chance slip. He stated his fare: she would have to spend the night with him. Bwing virtuous girl she was, meizhen was utterly disgusted at the suggestion and sorely disappointed with King coz she had always regarded him as a close friend. She left in a huff and met ah teck along the way. She confided in Ah teck but he only responded in helplessness, or was it indifference?
Indesperationm meizhen yielded to King's demands and was finally brought across the river safely. Overjoyed to see ah xiong, yet feeling thoroughly confused over what she had just experienced, she poured everything out to him. Horrified thath meizhen could have done such thing, ahxiong turned his back on her.
The totally shattered and distraught meizhen now turned to Khairol for help. Infuriated at what ah xiong had done, Khairul sought him out and the two ended up in a fight. Ah xiong fell into the river and became the crocodiles' dinner.

few yrs back i read the same story n i gave a different ranking.. now i realised.. ppl really changed a lot as they grow...

Well I had this exercis in two camps...
One in a rape and molestation talk another in a critical thinking lesson...
To me...
We cannot deny that King is a horrid person but to me he is the least to blame...
Cos he is only like temptation... You can take it or leave it...
But as for the friend... Ah teck, to me I think plays a very bad role... Being teens today, we need a lot of reassurance from our peers... If you reply in disgust I feel it will kill the person and look what happen to Meizhen... The other is the BF... Though I rank him second, he may only defend in the sense of being provoked at the time he was notified...
The problem with Meizhen is that she is too desperate not that it is wrong but what she did cause something wrong to happen...
If she did not confront that Khairol guy, that Bf of hers won't die... She made matters worse but I belive the blame cannot be all towards her as she is in need of a friend... Hence, here is an important lesson to be learnt... If we commit ourselves as someone's friend... We need to be there to give good advice but most of all, a shoulder to lean on... If we shun our friends away... Look at the end of the day what happens... I too am learning how to be a good friend and to be able to look at the prespective of others... Imagine you are Meizhen and you need someone to understand why you slept with King but you have high standards that sex before marriage is a big NO No... we end up killing meizhen mentally... Thanks wai jin for this story...

i will put 1st-meizhen,2nd-khairol,3rd-ah teck,4th-ah xiong n last king.....i dunno y i choose this way but my instinct tell me so... but i hate king n oso ah xiong. i appreciate khairol act but i think it jz out of control. wat other ppl think of?
I still think the worst is King, cos that guy is just plain mean and disgustingly sly, taking advantage of meizhen that way. But i rank meizhen as second too. her irrationality lead to ah xiong's withdrawal, and finally caused his death...
The least to blame is ah xiong. After all, i feel that he's only reacting naturally in response to his gf's actions, although it's cruel too... But what else could he have done? Accept her?
Somehow, today i feel that guys prefer girls who are smart enough to think about themselves, and strong enough to stand up for themselves. Correct me if i'm wrong, guys, but would you like a smarter girl who tries to think about other solutions, or one that gives in to desperation so easily?
June, what would you do in this situation... I don't wanna sound divine and all but I dun think I could rate any one of the five
each did what they did for a reason be it reasonable or not and the consequences must be bore by them... I think its hard to see it from people's prespective cos we could never fit in their shoes... I think it is important not to judge but if I must...

Everyone wants a virgin partner be it a boy or a girl but when sometimes you don't get one, it really depends do you love the person or you love the person for his/her virginity or... you only love virginity over people...
i like King the most coz he is smart and know when to take advantage ;-)

Personally, me, i would never give myself to anyone other than the one i really love. I would wait for ah Xiong to come over, he's a man, for Chrissake, if he doesn't have that initiative to come over to me, that means he does not really love me... Then so be it la.
But seriously, Mei zhen should never have done that stupid thing... If ah xiong really accepted her after that, it would seem to be pity, sympathy, guilt etc... Rather than true love...
