Explorace anyone?
The MCQ and SAQ was okay (but I fell sick the day right before the exam, an extremely inappropriate time to be sick, really. Had a raging headache, blocked nose, burning sore throat and was unable to sleep. Ouch. Haha)
What I really want to talk about is the OSPE. We are given diagrams, teeth, pictures of diseases etc, then must label, and answer questions. It was like being in some sort of wacky game show quiz, albeit plus an extra load of fear of the unknown…. Hey, this is an exam, man, not just a game!
Actually in this exam, there are 14 stations of questions. The candidate must go through all of them, given only 3 minutes on each question. There is a bell that rings every 3 minutes, and you MUST leave your place when it rings, or you’ll be blocking someone else, as well as get scolded, or worse, kicked out of the lab.
Imagine our old lab in Cochrane. The big tables in our lab are just like that, just newer and with many weird machines and contraptions like those you find in a dental clinic….
So we must move from table to table every 3 minutes, in one circle around the lab lor…
(Oh add one thing, we must wear our white coat in this exam, like real doctors! First time, you know! Haha wish I had time to take a picture…)
3 minutes is quite long, right? WRONG!! Imagine if you’re given two extremely ugly teeth ( I mean they are discoloured, slightly broken and has barely recognizable features…) And you need to identify both of them, write down their numbering and name, then give SIX differences between them! In 3 minutes! Most of us barely had the time to make out what the teeth were, then write only a few words, and the bell has tolled for us….
Some questions, like the one I mentioned above, we had way too little time, but others, there was too much time, so those who had finished just sat around watching the others sweat and panic…. Hehee
To be honest, if it had not been an exam, it would have been really fun and funny, not to mention exciting…. Something like Explorace, only you race around the lab instead of the city… Hahahha

Exams in NUS
another thing...the bus.. fuiyo.. crazy.. coz everybody is going to the same destination, which is the multi purpose sports hall, the buses are soooo full with human... i mean, even at the 1st stop, ppl cant even squeeze themselves into the bus.. crazy... NUS is really crazy...
i felt so suffocated.. really suffocated.. a lot of ppl... and a lot of robotic ppl... and u noe..singapore has limited space.. even in the exam halls.. the space btw the tables are so small.. u can even see the answers of the one sitting next to u CLEARLY.. yes.. it's just for a medium-sized invigilator to walk through.. oh yea as boon said, when u r having exams, look left, right, front or back.. and u might not see anyone u know...
and NUS has so limited space that even the hostels' function halls are exams venues.. crazy.. imagine the place u r staying are having exams and u cant make noise.. oh yea.. everybody is studying, so nobody will make noise..
ok so now i'm having finals.. u will not know how 'good' the life here...as u see in my msn nickname, there's no day or night...wake up, eat , study, eat again, study again, study again.. tired d nap a while.. study again.. study again .. study again.. basically i also dunno what am i studying.. feel so stressed out.. no wonder ppl name NUS as National University of STRESS... with smart and hardworking robots around...
today is just the 1st day of my exam.. 1 week+ to go... haih.. i cannot imagine how am i going to tahan here for 4 years... insane... lifeless.. breathless.... oh yea.. and moodless... coz u cant be moody.. once u r moody, there goes ur day... and guilt will cover u coz u will think ur coursemates have been studying.. and gosh.. the singaporeans.. not staying in campus.. also purposely come back to study... tat's y u see the libraries are sooooooooo full of ppl..
so now u noe why i still feel the same after taking a breath n rest fr studies... in fact, will feel worse aft walking out...
oh yea, btw the study week and exam periods they will give out a lot of free biscuits and coffee.. just to let u stay awake thruout the nite.. and they will open the study rooms 24 hours.. and they even open some of the lecture theatres till 12am.. and some floors of the libraries too.. 24 hours...
so this is NUS... i've really nvr seen such a study culture before... where the students really STUDY the whole day.. their butts not leaving the chairs unless to dine or toilets... -.-"

| P | I | Z | Z | * | | F | * | N | T | * | S | Y |
What's wrong with the title?? why is something missing there?? haha ... i received an sms from WJ few days ago with all the *A* missing in a message .. it was nice .. because all the disappeared As are going to appear in our report cards!!! yeah!! that's true!!! haha ... haihzzz ... 12days n counting down.. to the day i come back to KL .. c u all ... now struggling with Physics .. who asked me to go for engineering ?? what the hell .. haha ... didn't prepare really well ... tis time exam SUI SUI lo ... haha ..
i had my English Proficiency last Wednesday .. my first paper .. hmm.. not very difficult .. can say it's a test to raise my confident gua?? let me get used to the style of examination system in NTU .. first time got into the exam
hall .. it was in the indoor basketball court ... and it was so big and cold ... walao ... i could feel the differences between university exams and the exams that we used to have .. you turn your head around and you could hardly find someone you know ... haih ...
Then last Friday was Maths paper .. tell you this was the second most freaking paper i felt .. why? Honestly i was good in Maths (tak malu but it's true.. lol) and so i was too tense and afraid that i would not score well and fail it .. really ... omg ...
then without too much realised the time i spent in libraries .. and it's the second i was going to sit my Maths paper in Auditorium ... since this is a compulsory subjects for ALL engineering students hence this was one of the HUGE n BIGGEST crowd examination subjects ... haha ... i think the seats got around 600-800 ... if not mistaken ... all within the foyer of the auditorium ...
anyway it didn't help much ... i was too panic that i could realise my panic was too overwhelmed when i tried to take out my matric card for examination ... i saw my hands shaking ... omg it was not a good sign ... i started off the exam with panic and tension but it got more relax in the midway of exam ... afterall .. haih ... i think i am OK ... the score may not be nice since i still do not know the grading system for my U but anyway .. it had passed at least ... ... woof ... oh ya .. tell you what... i made a very stupid mistake tat this was the second time i made in my life ... but this time was ok coz the mistake won't be affecting my score like LAST TIME (u wan to know what's last time?? nah.. i won't tell you now) ... the Maths exam started on 2.30pm... and all the way i was doing so fast that i was so afraid that i couldn't finish all the questions .. so fast fast n fast ... and at the last questions .. (after skipping a few) i saw the clock shown 4.24pm ... omg ... i said to myself... i got only 6 minutes to do the checkings .. so i quickly flipped through the pages ... ... and redo those questions that i couldn't finish ... ... then the minute hand of the clock touched the number '6' ... i looked around ... no movement ... i was like "e? issit the exam being extended?? issit the professor knew it was too hard?? (it wasn't too hard actually.. juz tat i din read enough)" .. so without hesitate i flipped back to first page ... ... DURATION : 2 1/2 Hours ... WHAT?! ... haha ... and so i got extra half an hour to check the answers ... so WU LONG ... maybe too panic gua ... actually i knew it's 2 and half hour but it happened that i forgot about it ... anyway i think u hav no interest to see my Maths questions ... so let's move on ...
ok.. so my next paper will be life science and physics .. honestly the MOST FREAKING paper goes to PHYSICS ... haha .. sounds crazy right?? anyway i will try my best ... and face the truth .. then next sem gambatte again!!! tonite .. juz now had a wonderful dinner ... guess what?? me n my friends ordered pizzas!!! wow ... haha .. first time eat pizzas in Singapore .. hehe ... it's Canadian Pizzas .. buy one free one ... so we tried lo ...
sorry hehehe .. after finish eating then only realise need to take some photos .. haha ... the pizzas finish liao so take some model shoots lo ... haha ...
total was SGD 42 for 7 people (one person around 2 1/2 BIG slices.. plus one CHEESE ball.. free one Pepsi) ok ok lo.. juz not tat nice compared to Pizza Hut (but i dunno how's PH taste in SG) ... CHEAP MA .. what to expect?? hahaha ... experience more important ... hahaha ...
so relax ?? yea lo ... dunno arh ... kinda feel a bit giving up ... hahahaha ... no la ... fight until die die also must score oh ... ... it's ok to score no A then not to try the best right ?? if all the people here so geng until i gave my best also cannot get A then i will accept my fate .. hahaha ... in the end .. it doesn't even matter ... so .. i end my post with tis ..

The story of ah xiong n meizhen
Meizhen was in love with ah xiong. They lived on opposite shores of a river. This river separating them was infested with man-eating crocodiles, and the only way to cross it was by a narrow bridge or by boat.
One day meizhen wanted vy badly to see ah xiong to discuss some matters relating to their planned wedding. Unfortunately, the recent flood had washed away the bridge,so meizhen started looking for a boatman to take her across the river. King was the only one who dared to cross the river which was still flowing swiftly as a result of the recent downpour. He had always wanted meizhen for his wife and now he would not let the chance slip. He stated his fare: she would have to spend the night with him. Bwing virtuous girl she was, meizhen was utterly disgusted at the suggestion and sorely disappointed with King coz she had always regarded him as a close friend. She left in a huff and met ah teck along the way. She confided in Ah teck but he only responded in helplessness, or was it indifference?
Indesperationm meizhen yielded to King's demands and was finally brought across the river safely. Overjoyed to see ah xiong, yet feeling thoroughly confused over what she had just experienced, she poured everything out to him. Horrified thath meizhen could have done such thing, ahxiong turned his back on her.
The totally shattered and distraught meizhen now turned to Khairol for help. Infuriated at what ah xiong had done, Khairul sought him out and the two ended up in a fight. Ah xiong fell into the river and became the crocodiles' dinner.

peepppss!!
college is busy as ever i shouldnt even start complaining about how much assignments i have. there's like deadline everyday. literally! EVERYDAY 6 days a week! but somehow or rather, im enjoying myself =) Hey i've got something to share with y'all.
i have this subject called History of Art. the name might cause you to think that its a boring sub. thats what i thought too at first. but, it turn out to be the most interesting sub overall. i did this project with a group of friends. we were supposed to make costume using the theme of an art movement given to us. we did FUTURISM. (a style of painting where the charateristics of speed, dynamic, technology, etc is shown) *grins*. we had to come up with not just a costume design but, a concept/story behind it. and here's what we got. enjoy reading! =)
"This is the future in the eyes of Triela. "
The year is 3009. The world has separated in two. Not literally of course, the humans would take things into their control to ensure that something as catastrophic as that wouldn’t happen. This split occurred in beliefs and moral values. The people were no longer divided by race or country. In fact, with such technology in transportation and communication, the world was almost united. Static, with everyone everywhere, anywhere, at the same time.
Interesting? It gets better.
The story goes like this.
Such a developed nation couldn’t stand alone. They had a strong government and a cabinet in power. These men and women were of status, well educated elites who worked hard to bring humanity to a greater level. But this would only bring on their downfall.
With the party in power trying their best to bring development to the highest possible level, they started to neglect everything that humanity was birthed from. Nature, peace, spirituality and emotion was soon forgotten. People moved closer to the city to obtain the best of technology, crowding themselves and working to achieve materialistic needs.
But not everyone was drawn into this haze of emptiness. There was a group of people bold enough to break away from this standardization of materialism. They rose up, started a revolution and was soon joined by many others. The government soon had to acknowledge and take them seriously when their number grew much too large to control. Finally a treaty was made. The rebels would move out of the city and stay there to embrace what they wanted, to live with nature once more. The city folk were pleased and continued their search for greater heights.
The rebels were soon known as the Crux. Their name represents something crucial, necessary. To them returning to the base of human nature was something vital and they chose it for themselves, sacrificing all forms of materialistic needs. They lived away from the city and soon found themselves returning to prehistoric times - almost.
On the other hand, the city folks called themselves the Advocates. They considered themselves holy and greater than anything else simply because they believed that they were achieving success in life. Success to them meant manners, social meetings, high standards of living, lavish materialism and pride. Along with these came so many negative things. As they strived for higher technology, they found themselves living in a shallow world where it was devoid of emotion, full of smoke, cluttered and dense. It was almost ironic the way they packed themselves together, so sure that their city life was bringing them meaning. As they increased the population in their fully metal metropolis, the less they were alive.
They found themselves stuck in a rut of speed and dynamism. Busy all day long, chasing recognition in their society, surrounded by vehicles and rush, they started to fall sick. Their city had no greenery for they almost found it an insult to accept anything associated with what the Crux believed to be important. They tried to cure their self induced illness with more science and only found themselves getting worse. They tried cultivating nutrients to feed their frail bodies but their bodies has slowly evolved and was rejecting this goodness. They had started to turn pale, their blood was so longer bright red, but a darker shade, almost gray. The women, full of pride, just like the men, chose to embrace their paleness as a fashion, thus bringing about a movement of darker and duller shades. They wore silvers and black to reflect the mechanic lifestyle they were in. What they had no guts to fight, even though deep in their conscience they knew it was wrong, they embraced.
It was this society Triela lived in. A female Advocate and a daughter of a member of senate, she hated this lifestyle. Unlike many older people of her distinguished class, she saw what they couldn’t. She saw that they would sooner or later destroy themselves.
She saw that they needed to change. She even saw the truth in the Crux’s beliefs. She appreciated what they stood for and sympathized with their castaway. She was one light in a sea of lifeless, mindless, prideful people and she wanted out.
Moreover, she wanted to bring a change for the future generations. She wanted her generation to have something better, living in peace with nature but also reaping the benefits of science.
Being someone of high standards and having an extremely good education, she hatched a master plan. Only 20 but brilliant, she chose to make a stand, make a difference. She realized that she stood alone at that current moment but she believed with all her heart that when she finally voiced out her feelings, others like her would have the courage to rise up as well. She wanted to be the catalyst in a new movement and to go down in history as someone who did their nation good.
But being so young was not an advantage. To make matters worse, she was a woman. Nothing had changed, women were still the weaker sex. She understood the battles she would have to go through to make people take her seriously. She was driven even more by the fact that her own mother had died to a cause very similar to what she wanted to do now. Her mother had passed on this vision and Triela, being a strong and willful individual wanted even more to battle it out.
**(this is where our model walks in, with the music "roxannes veil" by vanessa mae. original soundtrack of Alexander. super nice piece!)
This brings us to now. In year 3009, Triela is about to attend a grand ball. But this isn’t going to be a meet and greet session for her. She does not intend to shake hands, be on her best behaviour, and earn good praise. She planned to get in the middle of the crowd and speak her views and spark her vision. Being smart, she predicted that it would be a safe place. The elite would be around her, surely she wouldn’t be arrested and they would have at least the courtesy to let the daughter to an elite Advocate speak.
Around her waited the few of her trusted friends and partners in vision to help her in any case of an unexpected turn of events. They were workers, fellow children of the older and more prideful generation, and even servant maids.
So tonight she wears a beautiful and classy gown, full of the style which represents the future as the Advocates had made it. Clad in silver and black with a dynamically designed skirt which enables her to move swiftly, she conforms to their standards of dressing and style, just so she will be taken seriously.
But the rest of the elements of her gown has a deeper meaning than just sheer style. The high wired collar represents her emotions and visions, ready to volcano out of her being. The neck brace makes her stand tall and reminds her to not turn back in what she is fighting for. The three geometrical shapes roses standing high above her gives a slight clue to what she is fighting for. It is after all part of nature, an element of the Crux and she has cleverly planted in so conspicuously in her very much Advocate styled outfit.
Tonight she fights for freedom, for unity, and all that the future should be.
hehh. the story reminds me of starwars, sounds like somwthing george lucas would do right? *bangga* bwahahahha! okay. ima go do some posts reading now. hee.

Head...
Today we had demo session for the brain. This is the real-life (I mean dead and preserved la, of course) head. A cadaver. Meaning a ‘mayat’. It’s soft and cold…. Really. And the smell of the preservative formaldehyde is really strong… hahaha
This is real. The brains…We had quite a few demonstrations using real preserved (or it's usually called plastination here) human body parts, the arms, legs, body... But this is so far the most, erm... interesting... Haha looks fake huh? It is real... the joys of studying medicine... *giler* Haha
Community service, Malaysian style...
Last week we dental students went to YOKUK (Yayasan Orang Kurang Upaya Kelantan) for a simple get-together as Raya celebration. Very nice. But my community service is miles different from Wai Jin’s one, haha. Still memorable, though.
We were actually supposed to sort of ‘interview’ the disabled people there, ask them their full name, where they live, what happened, how they feel etc etc. Then also write down whatever information we got. But my friend and I, we just went and started chatting to one very nice Pak Mohammad about his activities at YOKUK, his lifestyle, his wife Kak Zah, about Kelantan, the food there, even about the “kuih tapai” we were eating then.…. Hahaha like friends lah! (Very paiseh la, ask people for their house address la, date of birth la, like interrogating a suspect for crime… So weird.) Plus we didn’t write anything down, cos it’s odd lah! Like reporter pulak…
Then suddenly before ending, our lecturer suddenly asked us to present what information we have!
And I was asked to be the second presenter!!! *pengsan*
Haih. No choice la, I just stood there and told all my friends and lecturer we’re sorry we didn’t write anything down, but I will speak from whatever I remember anyway…. Haha so I just stood there and crapped for 7-8 minutes…. Incidentally, Pak Mohammad’s birthday is on the 1st of January 1970…. So special.
Thank god I’m pretty okay at crapping. Hehee…
This week we went there again. This time was different. We got to ride a horse!!
Ehehehee actually the horse is for the patients to do therapy…. For example kids with cerebral palsy, they let the kids interact with animals like the horse, then ride it to improve backbone function, relieve some symptoms bla bla….
The point is the horse is actually for patients, but we went and rode on it pulak… Hahahha so bad… Somemore when the trainer asked us who wants to try, I was the first to volunteer… Haha you know la, how much I like animals…. Hehehe
But of course la, later we also helped and watched (err, actually mostly watch only) the small kid doing therapy… He was very happy, laughing and squealing all the way…
This are my friends. Unfortunately all of us were looking at someone else's camera... haha. I really enjoyed talking to the people there. Hope we can do it again!
Infested...
Bugs, bugs everywhere…. Monsoon season…Look here, on the wall. See what they are? No? Well I’ll tell you. They’re little bean-sized black beetles. And sometimes it’s even worse. The entire wall can be completely black…. Without a single speck of the original white wall to be seen…. Everywhere, even in the toilets. So imagine if those yucky and “wat tat” critters suddenly land on you while you’re bathing. So? We all take our baths at breakneck speed. As fast as possible, hahahha…
Aiyak. I probably shouldn’t tell you all this. Or else I might even scare May Hwa and Wai Jin off… Hahaha.
Remember our insects project in Form 6? It has not cleared me of my fear of insects…. I’m still really scared of them… But I still wish I can go back and do it all again… Preserve beetles until siau… Hahahha
My myanmar trip
I dun wanna do much talking so let me just go brief and show you pictures instead.
Myanmar or used to be known as Burma is a country between Thailand and China...
Very poor with very little rule of law cos the army is still in power and the elected Prime Minister from the opposition is still behind bars... I think his name is Aung Yang something...
The country is uptight and closed...
When I reached there... The scene looks like what I parents went through as children... Very poor setting...
Very staunge buddhist country...
Oh the tour I lead was a whole bunch of aunties... All are eligible to be my grandmother... add all their age can reach 1000++...
Ok let my pictures do the talking now...
Slight interuption...
Yin Ying came back so we went out.... here is the picture....
Ok.... Back to myanmar....
This Pagoda is called Kabaye and it is said to have Buddha's footprint....
This one is the Buddha's tooth relic... His tooth is inside... Maybe Sze Jun can go check if Lord Buddha has cavaties or not... Joking ya....
This is Shwedagon with the many sides of it...
People sweeping the floor as a tribute to Lord Buddha
